So Many Things...So little Time!

I have so many pictures and even some videos to share! While I am organizing all of this, I want to take a minute to record some of Jack's funny little things he is doing now. He makes us laugh so much! Even when it is really not funny. Things that I certain that I will tire of soon make me laugh now. Just like last night, I said, "Jack, come eat your dinner".  He said "mommy, just leave me alone"....just as serious and plain as can be! I was laughing while trying to tell him it was not OK to speak to me that way!

He is such a good boy- but man oh man does he ever need his sleep. The child usually takes a 2-3 hour nap, so on the days that we go on the boat and he is late to nap or sometimes even skips a nap, it gets kind of ugly. His first reaction to me trying to hold him or calm him in those moments is to hit me. I hate that. I know he would normally not do that except when he is beside himself with exhaustion. I feel like I should take some responsibility for putting him in the position to miss his nap, but at the same time I want to teach him that type of behaviour is unacceptable! What is a momma to do?

He has really figured out how to play solo. It makes it kind of nice so that I can get things done without causing too much drama because he is begging me to play while I desperately try to water the plants/ pulls weeds/check email, etc...Poor kid really would enjoy a sand box! This is some sand that Big D put in the grass to try to get the bermuda to spread over some thin spots. Jack LOVES it!

I marvel everyday at how big he seems! I know we still have a long way to go, but I see it going faster and faster and I just want to stop time! When we were out on the boat the other day, he looked up at our flag, and unprompted, he started saying the Pledge of Allegiance. It amazes me how we can teach him things that are meaningful to us as a family and he just takes it in and makes it a part of himself.
How much longer do you think he will say"momma I wanna hold you" when he is nervous in the water in the pool? How many more summers (or days) will there be that he will want to float in the lake in my lap? When will he no longer cleverly get me to stay in his room with him while he falls asleep by saying "mommy, sing to me"?

He gives kisses now. It was not too long ago, that he would offer up his plump cool little cheek when you asked for a kiss. Now he will actually kiss you. The kissing being more of a sucking between the teeth sound than an actual pucker, but to me it is priceless!

He sits at the table with no booster or now in a restaurant. He drinks from a cup with a straw and does it without spilling most of the time! Mrs Kim will be going on a long vacation in June. Two weeks we will be without her. I have a good bit of vacation time this year since I have been with my company for five years now. Even still, taking two weeks off all together in one quarter is not allowed.
Grandma and Grandpa to the rescue! We are so fortunate that they are happy to pick up and make the three hour drive just to be with our boy! I will be taking a couple of days, but they will be picking up the rest of the slack.

Jack adores his Grandma and Grandpa. Here they are together with Big D at a Lakeside restaurant last week when they popped over to spend the night with Jack while we went to see Jimmy Buffett! What a treat for us, but an even bigger treat for Jack. He loves it when they come over form Decatur. He says that. "They are coming over from Decatur and they are staying with us"! He gets so excited!
Well get excited Jack- just two short weeks and they will be back! WAHOO!

Something New!

Get ready guys! The Pickle Tree is cooking up something new!

I have a few finishing touches to put on my tutorial and then a Tutorial and Alphabet pattern will be available for purchase in my etsy shop!

Stay tuned....I anticipate it will be available by tomorrow! Perfect timing for a summer project for the long weekend!

Jimmy

For 10 years now ( at least...maybe more- man I am getting old)
my husband and I have a tradition of ALWAYS going to the Jimmy Buffet concert with friends.

We usually try to get there early to tailgate and get in an island fram of mind;)
It is usually hot as heck. We usually have a little tent. This year we did not so we melted a little and passed around my trusty Auburn umbrella!

We like to consider ourselves pretty good Jimmy fans. I mean, we know all the regular songs like Margaritaville, Pirate Looks at Forty, and my personal favorite, Tin Cup Chalice.

This young lady in our group underestimated my speed and agility with a camera....cute belt, huh?

AH...that's better!

We are always up for a fun rendition of Fins....yeah, we play along.

But we also keep up with his newer stuff...like Bama Breeze, A Lot to Drink About, and School Boy Heart.

There was one song that he played at the end, however, that somehow has COMPLETLY escaped my Jimmy Buffett collection.

It has sort of renewed my love for Jimmy.

Please feel free to take a listen...I threw in the You Tube link that I found for it.

I went with this video because the old days in Key West are some of our favorites of Jimmy. It has a pretty terrible ending, so if you can excuse that part....enjoy!
The song is called Nautical Wheelers and I cannot believe that I had NEVER heard it!
* I would also like to point out that the film is older than me- HA! not so old after all!

Mini Parrothead

We went on our annual Jimmy Buffett Concert trip Tuesday night. Jack did not join us. He stayed at home with grandma and granpa and had a grand ole time!
Mommy and Daddy had a much needed night out. Recovery takes a bit longer in my old age:)
Pictures to come soon!

Poulet de Normandy

My mom with me, my sister Kelly, and brother Josh
Kelly's Corner is doing a "Show us Your Life What is your favorite main course" today and Poulet De Normandy was one that I just could not pass up the opportunity to share!
It is a recipe that my mom used to always make so it is just a comfort food that reminds me of home! In the area that I grew up ( North Alabama) this was always served at the quaint little tea rooms and ladies lunch places. Ususally along with strawberry pretzel salad...but that recipe post is for another day!
I love to make and take it when friends have babies or surgery or the like and it is always a crowd favorite!
Glorified chicken and dressing I call it.
Always sure to please and my favorite part? Most of the work is done the day before!

Poulet de Normandy

1 16 oz. package herb seasoned stuffing mix

1/2 cup softened butter

1 1/2 cups hot chicken broth

1/4 cup chopped onions

1/2 cup mayonnaise

1/4 teaspoon salt

2 1/2 cups cooked chicken, diced (I love using rotisserie chicken)

2 eggs

1 1/2 cups milk

1 14 oz. can cream of mushroom soup

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

•Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.

•Combine stuffing mix, butter, and hot broth and set aside.

•In a separate bowl, mix together onions, mayonnaise, and salt.

•Add mayonnaise mixture to stuffing mix and mix well.

•Stir chicken into mixture.

•Spread mixture into a greased 9"x13" baking dish.

•Beat eggs in milk and pour over all.

•Refrigerate overnight.

•Take out of refrigerator an hour before serving and spread with the mushroom soup.

•Bake uncovered for 40-45 minutes.

•Sprinkle with cheese and bake an additional 10 minutes or until cheese is melted.

So there you have it...my favorite main course!
Enjoy!

A Very Hungry Birthday Shirt

I had a client request a caterpillar shirt with her sons name on it for his birthday.

She sent me a picture of her idea and I tweaked it to look a little more like the caterpillar in the story.

I think it turned out soooo cute!
I hope Theo loves it and has a VERY happy first birthday!

I am linking up over at Savvy Southern Style today- you should check it out!
I am a little late to the WOW us WEDNESDAY party but here I am!
There is always so many awesome ideas!

auburn mural revisited

I decided to link up to the linky party over at a diamond in the stuff today and I knew exactly what I wanted to SHINE! The Auburn Mural that I recently did is like my baby. I just want to WHOLE WORLD to see it!

So far the only picture that I have of the entire thing has a sketch taped to the wall.
I GOTTA get back over there and get better pictures!

Well until that happens....here are the pictures that I do have!

All of the items that are shown in the mural were selected by the client.

I just helped them figure out how to arrange it!

Love Aubie!

The clients even suggested the items to put on Aubie's paper!

And if you know anything about Auburn, AL, you know that no Auburn Mural would be complete with out Momma Goldberg's somewhere!
Is it lunchtime, yet?

What a brilliant idea! I think I am going to cry!

I saw this over at Haven and Home today. It kind of reminded me why I started this blog!

Knapsacks!

These little babies shipped out today!

They are headed to the Junior League in Morgan County Alabama...

They are for the Knapsacks for Needs Drive they are holding.
I posted about it here.

It is not much, but I think if we all pitch in a little...it will help a LOT!

I am in trouble now!

What is cuter than two adorable sisters with coordinating reversible classic a-line monogrammed dresses?

Why matching a line reversible dresses for their American Girl dolls, of course!

After making the dresses for a friend's daughters', she came back and asked me if I could make matching doll dresses. What a good and thoughtful momma!

It just so happened that the pattern that I bought for the a line dress came with a doll dress pattern!

I told her of course I would be happy to do that for her and I did not think much else about it.

Until I put these little beauties together.

It was SOOOO much fun! The only downside is that I did not have an American Girl doll to play dress up with.

Poor George..he was a good and patient stand in.

Thank goodness Big D and Blu did not witness the "dress fitting".

Wow... I sure love my little boy, but the doll dress thing hit me like a ton of bricks! I would sure love a little girl to play dress up with. I guess my nieces better beware!
I am coming after their dolls NEXT!

Toomers for Tuscaloosa gets the "Quarters"

There is still need. I know that it is easy to forget about something when it is not in your backyard or it is not being plastered all over the news. But the victims of the April 27th tornados that caused massive death and destruction to Alabama still need help.
There is a need for food, water, shelter. There is a need for supplies for a rebuilding effort. There is a need for diapers, toothpaste, baby formaula, towels, underwear, clothing, hairbrushes, books, toys, coffee....the list goes on. Think about it- what would you need if suddenly everything that you owned was blown away?
Some towns in Alabama will probably never be the same. There are so many good people in my sweet home Alabama. I know that everything that can be done is being done for those in need. But with a disaster as widespread as this...it is never enough.
I am working on my little small part. It is not enough. But it is what I can do. I am helping out with Knapsacks for Needs. I a plan to sew my little heart out this weekend!
The Pioneer Woman is doing her little part. Her part equals more than what I can do, but we all do what we can, right? I blogged here about "quarters". Well, go here to see the results!
I could not beleive my eyes! She is giving her "quarters" to Toomers for Tuscaloosa!

If you have the time, you should check them out on facebook. The little idea that started with two ladies has has grown so fast! They are accomplishing amazing things through the power of hardwork and the technology of social media! The photos show all of the devastation. Some are hard to look at. A man holding his one year old baby as he cries blood covering both of them. Homes and schools- flattened.
What lifts me up and makes me realize how strong they are as a state though, is the spirit that shines through in the photographs. The relentless will to survive and thrive is pouring out of the people. It blows my mind and now more than ever I am proud to be an Auburn Tiger and and Alabamian!

Crayon Aprons

Spring has sprung and the birthday parties are in full force!
I know because I have attended a few with my 2 year old....
AND because I have been getting tons of orders for these!
 They are simply adorable!
A crayon apron on one side and a regular apron on the other!
Two personalized gifts in one...not bad for $20 bucks, huh?
I made my own pattern- they are fun and oh so rewardingly cute when they are through!

The party is in honor of a little boy? Crayon rollups are the answer!

You can find these little gems and lots more goodies over at my etsy store...

I am joining WOW us Wednesday over at Southern Savvy Style!

See you there for lots of ooooohs and ahhhhhhhs!
