Gobble Gobble

I have still been counting my calories. I have been doing well. With Thanksgiving quickly approaching, I can tell it is gonna be tough over the next couple of months. All I can think about is food! I saw this on one of my favorite blogs today and I think I am going to have to do it but make it in individual servings in some type of stemware. Pumkin Gingerbread Trifles. YUM! Thanks for the idea!

Little Jack has loved to eat from the start! I think Thanksgiving will be his favorite holiday!

Christmas Picture 2009, Take 369,223

Today was such a beautiful day!

I decided to take a break from cleaning out our closets and try to get some shots for the old Christmas card!

We tried one with the dogs....

Lucy was not really game for getting pinched today

Oh well- we tried. Sam got away while the getting was good

Poor Jack- he really does not understand why they run from him!

We did get a few shots

I will probably try again another day

But if I do not get a chance, I think I will be able to find one for the Christmas card out of the 300 or so shots I took today!

Jack has been REALLY sick
( see the passy in his pant leg...)

Kim called on Tuesday to say he would not eat and he was really fussy
( Dan getting the passy out and sighing and carrying on about what a poor parent I am)

I went to pick him up and after his nap that afternoon, he had fever so I took him to the doctor
( Dan: "See this...did you MEAN for this to be in the picture?")

The doctor said sore throat, maybe drainage, maybe strep..here is some amoxicillan
( Please excuse Lucy...when you gotta go, you gotta go)

The next night, he would not even swallow his milk, much less his food. Dan and I took him to Children's at Scottish Rite

Hand Foot Mouth Disease they said ( I had never heard of it)

The blisters in his throat had gotten so bad they gave him Lortab to get himn to drink and eat

Life continued to be rough for the next few days and I stayed home from work with him because he was very contagious ( and needed his mommy)

It was tough...he wouldn't nap, didn't really want to eat, but now that he is doing better, I am so glad that I got a little extra time with him. He is changing so much so fast. He is learning so much so fast. He has already switched his Ma- Ma` with the Italian accent to an occasional mommy. He blows kisses, says dada when he hears the garage door open, and today he FINALLY backed down the stairs in our house. He has been crawling up them for some time, but finally figured out how to do it backwards today!
Now I gotta get ready to go back to work. It has been almost a week that I have been out- feels like a MONTH!

Easy Like Sunday Morning...

So today was a bust. I had so much on the old agenda, but my body was just not on board with the plan. I am still under the weather and spent most of today doing laundry and taking naps! I did make a quick run to the grocery store with Jack while Dan worked in the yard. I asked Dan to keep an eye on him while I put the groceries away. When I went upstairs, they were happily playing in the swing on the front porch. Then I heard the John Deere Mower crank up...I got my camera before I even looked, because I KNEW Jack was getting his first ride!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Okay Okay..I know I should NOT be getting in the Christmas spirit so early! Usually I am not up for it until AFTER Christmas. Let me also clarify that these photos are NOT of decorations I have up for this year! These are actually from a few years ago and it is funny to see how much my house has changed since these photos were taken. My front door is now painted Sherwin Williams, Black Fox. I have new brown curtains, wrought iron blausters, and a different paint color in the living room. The den in the bottom picture is COMPLETLY different. New trim, new paint, new furniture....

ANYWAY, this trip down memory lane has gotten me way off the subject I intended to post about...the Christmas Spirit!

Sure it might be a bit early, but how can I NOT be in the spirit with this little booger around? I think he will really enjoy it this year and I cannot wait to see it through his eyes!

Halloween 2009

Dan did a great job on the pumpkins

Here is a day time view

Jack is getting so big! He is walking so good- it was time to go to Stride Rite to get fitted for some big boys shoes- HOW CUTE!

He was an adorable puppy on Halloween. It was a rainy dreary cold and humid night.

We had a good time with good friends!
Tonight I was late picking Jack up from Kim's...MY WORST NIGHTMARE!
I feel guilty enough leaving him all day, but I hate that he is usually the first in and the last to leave. Most of the other kids have moms who are teachers. Daddy drops them off as late as possible and mommy picks then up as early as possible. Then there is us...oh well... at least I still have a job to go to and I am thankful for that! I was feeling so down and Dan was going to be late getting home, so Jack and I stopped at Moe's for some comfort food ( AKA food someone else cooked!) He got a "kiddie cup" with his meal, but I did not use it. We used his sippy instead. When we got home. I gave him his cup. He LOVED it. He would not let it go. Luckily, it could go in the bath with him. I had a ball just watching him experiment with the water. He would fill it up, then sit in down in the water and wait for it to balance just right before he tried to put the lid on. Then the game became fill it up and get it up to the edge of the tub to sit while he put the lid on it. He would probably still be playing that game if the water had not gotten cold and I did not have to take him out. We dried, lotioned, rocked...cup still clutched tightly in his chubby little hands. I reluctantly put him in bed with it. Wonder if I will be able to pry it away once he is asleep?
